It's the last few days of school and everyone is understandably worn out and ready for summer. Students have checked out, teachers are hanging on by a thread, and administration is mostly just letting nature run it's course. That being said, it's important to remind ourselves why we do this and I came across this video at what I thought was a perfect time.
"Teachers become great actors and great actresses, and we come to work when we don't feel like it and we're listening to policy that doesn't make sense and we teach anyway. We teach anyway, because that's what we do. Teaching and learning should bring joy. How powerful would our world be if we had kids who were not afraid to take risks, who were not afraid to think, and who had a champion. Every child deserves to have a champion, an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists they become the best that they can possibly be. Is this job tough? You betcha..oh God, you betcha, but it is not impossible. We can do this, we're educators-- we're born to make a difference."

I think this is really powerful and this attitude is missing in classrooms today, from what I hear.
I remember the teachers with whom I made a connection both positive & negative and it most definitely influenced how I learned since when it came down to it.
I looked forward to going to certain classes because I knew the teacher was excited for me an everyone else to be there.
