Tomorrow is the last day of the first semester, so today was the last STEM class for half of my students. The second graders were exceptionally enthusiastic today and suddenly decided today was their last chance to ask all of the things they'd been wondering since September. Why do I wear a scarf? Where was I born? What are the names of my family members?
Eventually we get to, "Are you married?" When I say no, most kids ask if I have a boyfriend. Today when I said no, at least 10 of the 26 kids collectively said, "AAAAWWWWW" (one said to her friend, "That's so sad!")
Whatever, I always have my cat.
